Here's the original call out for the Birthing Council I made on a local/Salt Spring Island FB group The Mama Hive (great resource to connect with families on Island)

:please help me tag any currently pregnant or with 2022-23 babies)

ANNOUNCING AND CALLING IN TEAM FOR BIRTHING COUNCIL 2

-Sunday, April 2nd

:

Last year 22 pregnant people (including myself), birth enthusiasts, and birth workers gathered for the first Birthing Council. We shared concerns, joys, and resources with one another. Built and strengthened relationships and support networks for this sacred adventure of pregnancy and postpartum.

.

Now babies have been born, changes in midwifery care continue, and another round of little fetuses preparing for life.

.

Its time again to gather, and this time I want to hear the diverse birth stories of 2022-2023 babies from families! I also want to have a moment to have a moment to collectively hold prayerful space for the currently pregnant folks.

.

CALL OUT FOR ROLES AND WAYS TO MAKE THIS EVENT EVEN BETTER!:

  • A resource networking person: to help compile a document of birth resources on the island

  • A note-taker: during event who commits to compiling details to be shared

  • Gift certificates or goodies for pregnant people attending ideas:. tea blends, muslins, baby socks ha!, maybe a free-box of baby items?

  • back-jacks, folding chairs? current venue main has pillows

  • Child care ideas? I think maybe we could donate collectively to help pay for onsite childcare to help group focus- Venue has lovely outdoor fun spots near

POLL:

Timing ideas- any preference or longer?

a- 11-12:30

b- 1:30-3p.m.

Thanks y'all I already have a great crew of support excited about this but want to extend that wider.

RECAP

The gathering was so beautiful with many birth stories shared and recorded along with raising money for Birthing Families Foundation.

We finished up with a sharing of community resources existing in the guests attending related to birth and family raising.

All the post partum or pregnant mama's also walked away with a raffle gift donated from the community- ranging from a closing of the Bones ritual, family counselling from Ingrid Bauer, and a Core Restore pelvic floor series from Trina!
